Saturday’s adventure took us up to Green Mountain to the high elevations of Chester Blandford State Forest from Route 20 in Chester following the Goldmine Brook Trail, crossing the brook at the washed out bridge and continuing up to Mica Mine Road on the Chester side, then crossing the brook again and  hiking into Blandford where this trail changes names to the old John Knox colonial road.  Knox was pretty torn up by ORV’s in some places ribbons of trails winding thru the trees with an exceptional amount of mud.  Coming down the mountain we took the lesser known High Water Trail with glorious views of Abbott Hill and Goldmine Brook very far below for a technical and wild forest hike, both up and down.
