An adventure packed Saturday to Chester’s Mica Mine and Quarry and more with a climb up Goldmine Falls crossing the brook and up to the largest mica mine horizontal shaft with the verticle shaft just feet away.  We brought Foundation for Underground Caves and Karsts Kevin Ricci out for some snorkeling to get a better look at the tunnel.  The water was still freezing with some ice so with the wetsuit, it was cold. Kevin dropped the underwater rover into the shaft and the cribbing and old timbers are still there! Picked up Thorium on the monitor a radioactive product of mica.
