Group Hike Saturday 02-22-2020 Littleville Lake in Huntington

🌲here is our route for Saturday’s group hike 02-22-2020, we park at boat launch lot, to the right theres a gate trail starts there after about 10 min trail goes uphill and meets a T intersection at Eagle Trail, we go left on Eagle Trail and follow about 45 minutes until we come to a beautiful large stone wall, there we take a left on a footpath 5 minutes down to the bank of Littleville Lake with a great large clearing. You can see the dam from there and the entire lake. In and back two hours. See you all there!🌲 #hikethehilltowns #westernmasshilltownhikers

Tekoa Mountain Flash Hike Video 02-02-2020

#flashhike up Tekoa Mountain ON THE CLIFFS you see driving under the green bridge in Russell from old Strathmore Paper Mill on Valley View Road, 800 feet of elevation, 1.4 miles to big vista, 2 hours with stops, half of this hike is very technical with rocky footing on verticle trail. The ultimate in Hilltown Hiking. My quads are burning. Loved it! #hikethehilltowns #westernmasshilltownhikers

Garnet Hill in Peru

❄Scouting trip to Garnet Hill and the WWII Plane crash Memorial in Peru❄ Blizzard upon arrival…after all this is Peru. Put on more gear and started in to a 5.4 mile 3.5 hour uphill trek, snow got deeper as we got higher. Started from Curtin Road in Peru, road is not plowed, side of road parking, at USA flags make right turn up Garnet Hill Road then first left again marked by flags to Memorial site which is an in and back, then continue up Garnet Hill Road keeping left at intersection to vista of Pittsfield, Mount Greylock and the Catskills, NY State. This hike is difficult in snow but worth it. We will flash hike it with all of you when the snow melts! #westernmasshilltownhikers #hikethehilltowns

Big E Train Show 2020

🚂Friday I posted hiking on the old Chester Becket Railroad which runs from the Becket Quarry to the Chester Railway Station. Here it is as a model(not exact but close) including the giant granite saw(see this still standing across from the train station), the Derrick at the Quarry, notice Bannish Lumber which is across from Sanderson Brook Falls parking lot on the main Boston Albany railroad🚂 #westernmasshilltownhikers #hikethehilltowns #visitchestermass

Chester Becket Railroad

🚂Hiking the old Chester Becket Railroad from the Becket Quarry. Originally the Chester Quarry the granite was moved by train on this rail to Chester where it met the Boston Albany Railroad. You can see this old railroad from Route 20 up on the mountain ledge on the left while traveling West through Chester and Becket. On Hampden Street in Chester there is a kiosk and official parking to hike a section there as well. I would like to see this entire rail trail opened up as an official trail, it is currently owned by the Becket Land Trust on this section we hiked today🚂 #westernmasshilltownhikers #hikethehilltowns #visitchestermass
