A Chilly 7 degrees and beautiful with the fresh snow at the Park Knox Acres group hike this morning, Chef John Slattery warmed us up with some homemade hot cocoa and cookies.
A unique and beautiful wildlife filled forest after years of logging now in conserved protection with easy, fun and short loop trails perfect for every ability on Round Top Hill the highest elevation in Hampden County!
We took the Park Knox Loop to the Chester Blandford boundary post on Old Park Knox Road, the first road from North Blandford to Chester from the 1800’s, on to Hemlock trail which follows a brook filled with “Chester Blue” stone and then on to Wright Cemetery with 18 marble and 42 fieldstone graves from 1813 to 1877. The old schoolhouse where many Blandford children went to school was on the corner. Thank you all for coming to beautiful Chester to experience some of our great Hilltown history!
