Old County Road Flash Hike high up on the Montgomery Hillside. This old road was once bustling with folks getting from Carrington Road to Pomeroy, long before Russell Road was built up the mountain. The entire mountainside just East of the Shatterack ridge was used for grazing back in the 1800’s. Now wooded with young growth, the original 200+ year old oaks and ironwood are easy to spot. The overlook of Huntington is amazing! An old well formed meticulously by natural oval stones is the only one we have ever seen. The old road continues West to Bearden Brook, there it follows the brook both North and South. We saw amazing amounts of animal tracks!
