The dead body of Lester B. Latham was found by the side of the highway towards Blandford, in 1842. His gun was lying by the body. It is suspected that he accidentally shot himself. We have hiked old Huntington Road for years and were told about this monument, about a year ago Karen came across it. The stone is hard to read, so she pulled out her stone rubbing gear and gave us a lesson on how to read stones. Monuments like these can be found throughout the hills in tribute to those who have passed due to accidents. Many gravestones where the bodies lay not within cemeteries are to be found also.
