Granville State Forest on West Hartland Road offers beautiful hiking in winter! Set out on a Flash Hike before a blizzard. We hiked 2.5 miles on the Hubbard River Trail in and back, this trail is across from the parking lot and begins as paved. We saw fresh moose tracks, CCC workers stone laid bridges, the old camp sites from when the state forest was created during the Great Depression in the 1920’s. It was one of the first state forest campgrounds in 1933 and under the National Park Service. Beautiful rock formations in the river with tumbling waterfalls, endless photo opportunities and the trail is flat and enjoyable!
