We checked out the newest trails in the Hilltowns at the old Christmas Tree Farm in Blandford which enlarges Chester Blandford State Forest by 218 acres.  DCR has begun planning trails, signage, etc but everything is still raw land at this point. This parcel supports local wildlife movement, expands public recreational access, and advances the Blandford Cross-Pike Nature Connector initiative. It also  bridges gaps near the Massachusetts Turnpike. Partners are The Nature Conservancy and the Department of Fish and Game. It has rocky streams, a former Christmas tree farm sections, and habitats for deer, moose, and bears. This parcel supports wildlife by connecting Becket State Forest, Round Top Hill and CBSF along with other parcels including the Hilltown Hikers new thirty acre parcel in Chester making for continuous hiking for us and our wildlife!
