June group hike at Pittsfield State Forest with special guest DCR Interpretive Coordinator Bob Rando and ranger Patty Saturday took us just over three miles thru the azalea fields on the beautiful Taconic Crest Trail up and over Tower Mountain where a fire tower once stood and people picked blueberries down to Tilden Swamp. We saw leaches and black spotted newts and hiked over the beaver dam to Berry Pond the highest body of water in the state. Thank you to DCR for again partnering with the Hilltown Hikers and thank you all for discovering Pittsfield State Forest!
