May is preservation month at our state forests and Sunday we took a hike with DCR Interpretive Coordinator Mike Whalen to Jones Nose and the Stage Trail.  We stepped back in time for a revealing 12,000-year exploration of Mount Greylock’s historic landscape learning about Ice Age beasts, primeval forests, Native American Nomads and 18th-Century pioneer settlers like farmer Seth Jones.
