Right before the leaves popped we ventured out to the Greylock Glen to see the remains of the lost Greylock Glen Ski Resort. GAIA gps actually shows all the old ski runs up the mountain.
The project was designed to be a 1,040-acre resort located at the base of Mt. Greylock. The opening phase was set to include 12 trails catering to both beginner and advanced skiers, featuring 50 acres of downhill terrain and at least 15 miles of cross-country trails. Gordon H. Terwilliger, a 25-year-old former assistant manager at Jiminy Peak, was appointed as the facility’s manager. Constant financial problems ultimately nixed this resort but the golf course opened for a short time. Big dreams, big dollars.
