The Nor’easter has canceled our October Group hike at Ragged Mountain since this is a technical hike, not good for rocks or views.  We pre-hiked to find a less strenuous route last week to the 2nd lookout and found a better way for when we reschedule this group hike.  Not for the weary, we climbed Mount Greylock State Reservation up the South Bellows Trail to the Ragged Mountain junction and then climbed more, a series of steep uphill and downhill sections, some on rock face for 1,300 feet of elevation in less than 2 miles.  We came down the rarely used Ragged Mountain Path (shown on GAIA Gps) which leads to jelly legs for those not used to working their quads into overdrive for a 1,100 foot decline in one mile! Excellent views from Ragged on clear days.  Want a challenge? Ragged Mountain is for you, remote and technical!
