“The tract of land on Whitcomb summit of the Mohawk Trail upon which the majestic elk, a memorial to members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks who gave their lives in the World war, has been erected, was given to the order for the purpose by Charles R. Canedy of this city, president and manager of the Whitcomb Summit Co., Inc., it was learned today.”

The site upon which the splendid memorial will be dedicated on Sunday, overlooks the towering rows of ranges that stretch away to the east and commands, as well a sweeping view of the Deerfield valley…”
