Adventure with die-hard hikers Saturday to the amazing Becket Potholes to get up close and personal with verticle and horizontal giant craters created during the melting of the glacial ice sheets!  “There is a rather unusual occurrence of giant potholes extending from an elevation of about 1000 feet to the ridge at 1250 feet on the brook draining north into the Westfield River at the east edge of the quadrangle. Their presence must date from a period when ice cover was thinning over the area at the end of the Pleistocene and sub-ice drainage was significant.” Norton Preliminary Geological Report.
