Mount Prospect and Prospect Mountain, trailhead on Notch Road, the Mount Prospect Trail ascends to the ridgeline of the mountain then tightropes the nose of the ridgeline upward at a 25 percent grade, or 1,320 feet per mile. We began at the no-longer-clear Wilbur’s Clearing and took a short spur to join the Appalachian Trail to the overlook of Adams at Prospect Mountain summit at 2,582 feet then continued on the ridge to the cairn at Mount Prospect at 2,677 feet. We turned back and retraced the trail and headed to the Wilbur’s Clearing shelter and Money Brook Falls. This in and back to the lookout is just 3.5 miles and a great hike with a bit of climbing.
