HILLTOWN HISTORY in Russell, the stone embankment for the Western Mass Street Railway can still be seen in the village crossing Bradley Brook. The trolley came from Westfield, construction had with high hopes to increase travel to the West however it never connected with the Huckleberry Trolley Line in Huntington, leaving a gap of just ten feet! This was deemed the scenic route, working its way thru stone cuts and along the Westfield River. The old trolley station, now a house sits at the corner of Old Westfield Road and Blandford Stage.
