INSIDE Ashintully Gardens in Tyringham, the most awe inspiring adventurous destinations and there are trails too! Two different adventures here, after the gardens, a trail takes you up to the remains of the marble palace. In the early 20th century, Robb and Grace de Peyster Tytus purchased 1,000 acres of land and built a Georgian-style mansion dubbed the Marble Palace-a name local residents supplied because of the way the pure white sand used for the stucco reflected the sunlight. Two generations of the Tytus-McLennan family occupied the home. The massive Doric collumns with the valley behind is breathtaking! We explored this mansion, still stately in my opinion even with it’s burned rubble. The old carriage road is now the trail that loops around the grounds, not to be missed!
