More from the Appalachian Trail from Lake Beul Road in Great Barrington….The Tom Leonard Shelter was built in 1988 by the Appalachian Mountain Club and named for a young man who served the AT as a Ridgerunner and died of a mysterious illness in 1985. A short walk south from the shelter brings you to a cliff and a beautiful overlook with a long southerly view. Three Mile Pond is far below, with Sisson Hill just beyond. Far in the distance are the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut.
