Another lost quarry found!
“No Name” quarry set on the granite fault somewhere between Chester Granite Co. and Lawry Quarry, one of five here spanning Becket and Otis hugging the town line. Thank you to Ed Williams’ tips to find this one up on a hill very close to the turnpike. Not much left here but chain and cable however it holds extremely large blocks and beautiful cuts in the quarry walls. Karen and I searched till dark using lidar mapping, as the deer crossed our path, there it was over the ridge! Trip two, Saturday flash hike to get an in depth look around the circumference and climbing the immense grout pile/tailings pile. This could be a smaller operation as a part of the flint quarry, hauling stone would be via Huckleberry Trolley Line just down the momountain
