Buckley Dunton Reservoir in Becket on a frigid afternoon. Hiking here is endless as this is part of the October Mountain State Forest. We went in from the entrance on the corner of Yokum Brook Road and Leonhardt Road, there is a short road called Buckley Dunton on google maps that leads to a plowed parking area next to the dam. We went over the dam and continued on the trail packed down by snowmobiles into the winter wonderland of fresh snow Saturday. Took a short spur to another view of the lake where the ice fisherman were out on the ice. Took a left to continue on the trail (sign said windy trail) we imagine going straight would take us to County Road though not shown on the map. We went about two miles which is halfway around the Reservoir however this continues around the entire lake for a total of about 5 miles and you come out on Yokum Brook Road. We followed moose tracks most of the way in. Michele wore a blanket. It was the kind of cold where your eyes run then freeze to your eyelashes, but beautiful as the trees on Becket Mountain were ice covered and there was sun!
