At the end of the hike we climbed the stone staircases built by the quarry workers to the top of the highest grout pile lookout. This trail continues around the main quarry up and over the grout piles, its not an easy one. At the vista Greylock, Peru, Gobble and more peaks can be seen. On the way up stop after the first staircase to see the etched granite block autographed by the workers. Gotta say, this is my favorite place!

We hope you all had a great time at our group hike 11-06-21at the Becket Quarry. It was once the Chester & Hudson Granite Company Quarry, from 1895 to 1945. It’s great reliving history in the outdoor museum high up in the mountain. #hilltownhistory can be found everywhere. Thank you to hike leaders Kim, Karen and Michele.
