We set out on Old Worthington Road in Huntington at the 2nd gate on Route 112 to find the early 1800’s J. Merrill & Son Whetstone Mill. The first settlers industry in Huntington was Whetstone and Axe production. We found the mill and the residence directly across from each other only about 500 feet in. Amazing #hilltownhistory still in existence today. We continued hiking in to the Knightville Flood plain to the Little River bridge. Old Worthington Road continues to the Chesterfield Gorge which was a populated road before the Dam take a right at the bridge and head to the once the heavily populated town of Knightville. #hikethehilltowns with the #westernmasshilltownhikers
