On Friday we had the pleasure of meeting with Will Conklin, executive director of the Greenagers at their home base, April Hill in Egremont.  Greenagers is a non-profit youth organization that engages teens and young adults in environmental conservation, sustainable farming, and trade skills. Will gave us a tour and we networked ideas of we can jointly provide community services for a few projects. Incorporating as a non-profit in 2013, six years before the Hilltown Hikers, the Greenagers and Hilltown Hikers are like minded organizations! Here’s what they do:  Farm Crew: Youth practice hand-scale, low-till farming, animal husbandry, and local food distribution.Trail Crews: Teens build and maintain hiking trails for local conservation groups and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.Pathways to the Trades: High school students learn carpentry and construction skills through real-world building projects.Community Outreach: Crews install home food gardens for local families and connect schools to farm-based education. We look forward to working with them!
