Hampden County Fire Control brought an awesome fire tower model and Smoky the Bear to the Littleville Fair Sunday!
The Bureau of Forest Fire Control and Forestry’s Fire Control program actively participates with all municipal fire departments as well as county and local forest warden committees, town and city foresters, state and local law enforcement agencies, and the Commonwealth’s county and statewide civil defense and mutual assistance organizations to prevent, detect and suppress wildfires throughout our Commonwealth.

Since 1911, the average size burn has been reduced from more than 34 acres to 1.17 acres on average. This generous reduction has occurred while the state has tripled the area of its wooded lands, more people have built homes within forested environments, and recreational opportunities in the Commonwealth’s many forests and parks have grown enormously.
