The Bog Pond Trail to Haskins Trail loop at Savoy State Forest a 3.5 miler starting at the campground along beautiful Bog pond with very old growth mountain laurel, giant white birch and even a  Northern White Cedar to the old dam and back on the old Haskins Farm Road discovering the remnantsof this very old Savoy settlement.  In 1934 the state acquired the farm of Dennis Haskins. This 600-acre parcel included the areas of North Pond, South Pond, and Bog Pond, as well as a 22 room farmhouse that stood in what is now the Savoy Mountain State Forest campground.  There are remnants of the old Haskins homestead throughout the campground: the apple trees interspersed through the area, and the large lilac bush near site 39.
