From the 360 cam! Getting out to see the last of the fall foliage, Saturday’s Flash Hike destination was the Cheshire Cobbles. Parking on Holmes Road in Cheshire the trail begins at the Chalet Wildlife Management Area sign. To your right in a gorge is the beautiful cascade on south brook, continuing on the unmarked trail up the mountain with several switchbacks until the junction of the Appalachian Trail. The views West and North started within the first 5 minutes. This trail is steep, but manageable. At the junction you are now hiking on the Appalachian Trail, to your left you can see the rocky, sandstone ledges appear to rise out of the mountain as the approach is from below, they tower above you. We reached the sign to the Cheshire Cobbles Overlook. A short path takes you immediately out on the rocky ledges to soak in the glorious views from this cobble of the Taconics amd Mount Greylock.
