Exploring the trails at Windsor State Forest that are still in existence. The rangers are in the process of finding the old trails here, grown over from when this State Forest was closed and bringing it back to life. The Steep Bank Brook Trail starts behind the new bathhouse and follows the brook up the mountain towards Notchview and connects at the white blaze trail there. This trail crossed the brook and looped down on the opposite bank. The rangers are working on opening the other side so we did hike the entire loop but one side is in bad shape, and the other is great. 500 feet of elevation gain, a two mile loop and super steep just like it’s name!
Windsor State Forest, newly re-opened 1,626 acres of heavily wooded hilly land with a small section in Savoy.
