The ultimate summit and last on our hike was atop Fox Den on Ragged Mountain, the rocky outcrop that can be seen from below at Thiel Road. From here open views of Mount Greylock summit, Williamstown, Vermont, Florida and Savoy, absolutely breathtaking!

From our Ragged Mountain Flash Hike at Mount Greylock State Reservation on Saturday, Tom Hoffman suggested this hike of approximately 6 miles and 1,500 feet of elevation gain starting at Thiel Road up the Thunderbolt Trail for an uphill challenge, holy steepness! Then over to Roost, Bellows Pipe and on to Ragged South Summit, Ragged Peak, and Fox Den for spectacular views reaching summits, rock face trail, glorious foliage, also Ragged cave which was enormous, and then back down a CCC created old road/trail by Ravens Rocks and King Kong Boulders! Spectacular hiking on Mount Greylock’s lesser known trails! This hike is also in our friend Christy Butler’s book Berkshire Destinations. support the Hilltown Hikers become a member!
