Alec Gillman Interpretive Coordinator at the DCR hosted the Centennial Hike of October Mountain Marsh at October Mountain State Forest on Saturday, part of the Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area series, reading the Governor’s proclamation of the 100 year anniversary of the state forest. We hiked approximately four miles around the marsh on the new trail viewing old growth trees, beaver dams on what was William Whitney’s game preserve. Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area
