Save the date July 30th to join us on the Rivulet Trail in Cummington to walk thru a certified old growth forest. Russ, Angie and I spent hours here, enamored at these trees! There is absolutely nothing like this ever seen in Western Mass and there’s history here too.
The trail has several interesting sections, passing through a forest that was once farmed as well as an old growth hardwood forest with sugar maples, yellow birch and white ash trees, some 300 to 400 years old. William Cullen Bryant himself blazed many of the hiking trails here. A section of pines 120-170 years old is one of the 10 tallest pine stands in the eastern United States. We will have interpretive guide handouts, bring your binoculars and good cameras!
