The Cobble Mountain Reservoir
Encompassing Russell, Blandford and Granville.
Water Supply for Springfield and the Pioneer Valley outside the Hilltowns.
Look but don’t touch.
As seen from Blandford Road in Granville, the only water supply in the country with no passive recreation. Rare rock found here are calc-silicate rock, feldspar gneiss, coticule and cummingtonite schist. Notice the cobble to the left of the arch bridge, geologic formation of exposed bedrock existing high on a ridge. Other cobbles are Tyringham Cobble, Cheshire Cobble, Pine Cobble, and Bartholomew’s Cobble, and Mahanna Cobble. They are evidence of tectonic movement that shifted the land.
