Shared from Granville Historical: This marks the spot of the first Methodist Meeting House west of the Connecticut River, built in 1797. It was also the site of the New England Methodist Conference of 1798. The old meeting house burned down around 1879, said to be the victim of fireworks set off by local boys celebrating the 4th of July.
