April 30th @ 10 am to 2:30
Boat Launch, Hotchkiss Road, New Marlborough
Hike Rating: Moderate Difficulty

GPS 42.071026 -73.211922

Where the wilderness is now a ghost town. A 7.5 mile hike, with rolling terrain, moderate difficulty, some stream/wet crossings, mostly wooded. We will circumnavigate Thousand Acre Swamp, East Indies Pond and Wolf Swamp on forgotten roads and see many 1800’s cellar holes and a sawmill site. We will also hear the story of Hermit Timothy Leonard. Be prepared for black flies. Bring lunch or snack and water. photo courtesy of New Marlborough Land Trust.

This is a special event with our host Alec Gillman, Regional Interpretive Coordinator of the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to narrate our journey.
