Garnet Hill in Peru looks out over Skyline Trail in Middlefield with long views to Pittsfield State Forest, once a premier tourist destination when excursions by car to the wild Hilltowns was popular.  Peru State Forest still maintains the signage to the Plane Crash Memorial but thats about it.  Climb the old road to the summit past the Memorial and bring your GPS for some outstanding wilderness hiking. A few cellar holes line the road and an exceptionally preserved fire pond too. The summit has not been cleared in a long time!
