The most tedious project so far at our Chester Granite Works property was uncovering the grout pan shovel from under giant granite blocks near the loading dock.  Volunteer Frank from Hancock worked on this for months moving each block with a come-a-long.  This shovel/pan was hooked to the end of the Derrick for moving smaller “grout” pieces of granite.  You can see a few of these exact same pans at the Becket Quarry in Becket.  The Hudson and Chester Co. owned both the quarry and our finishing works for a period of time before the finishing works was leased out.
