Sunday’s Flash Hike took us on the Monterey section of the Knox Trail from Beartown Mountain Road with Rob Hoogs of the Monterey Historical Society and the Three Toms; Ragusa, Barenski and Hoffman.  Rob taught the history of the 1765 road from Albany to Boston through Great Barrington, and The Greenwoods (Tyringham-Monterey, Otis & Blandford) on the probable Route used by Col. Henry Knox and his “Noble Train of Artillery” from Albany to Boston in Jan. 1776. Stops included Chadwick’s Tavern and old wells and cellar holes where this area of Monterey was the booming original town center. Look out for the guided tour planned for September, part of our Mass 250 Historical Tours this fall! #mass250
