Conceived in 1735 as Township #2, the Town of New Marlborough, became part of Berkshire County in 1741. This was then the frontier, a forbidding land of thick forests, steep hills, and deep valleys. Our forebears carved out a living and left a legacy of hard work, simple but fulfilling life, and a strong sense of independence. The Goodnow Preserve, a 3.5 mile loop along the Konkapot River and the Lower Carroll Paper Mill.
