LOST SKI RESORT Greylock Glen, Adams BUILT 1973-74 envisioned as an all-inclusive resort with a wide variety of seasonal offerings, financial problems led to it never being completed. No other similar-sized ski area has ever come so close to opening yet failed to do so in New England. Its remnants are a testament to the failure of this project, frozen in time. It was actually constructed and nearly finished, season tickets were sold but refunded, and a cross-country ski area operated on the lower slopes and golf course for one season.

The east slopes of Mount Greylock were long targeted for ski resort development. The Thunderbolt Trail was and is the most challenging ski trail in southern New England and briefly had its own rope tow. Two rope tow ski areas, Sheep Pastures and the Thunderbolt Ski Area, once graced its lower slopes.
