Just over the Dalton line up high on the Chalet Wildlife Area with a vast view of Pittsfield is the legendary split rock.  A giant glacial quartzite boulder the size of a bus split down the middle with a precarious chunk forming a tunnel cave perched itself here.  Located about 800 feet of bushwack off the Appalachian Trail we found this thanks to Berkshire Explorer Jim Moore and Berkshire Destinations authors,  Christy and Jan Butler.
