The Becket Quarry, upper trails around the quarry pit. Think you have you seen it all at the quarry? The upper trails that circle the pit have several grout piles, this is where the smaller, unusable pieces of granite were dumped creating these long finger like piles of stone. Mixed in and on the piles were tracks where small carts were used to move these spoils. There were at least eight derricks around the pit and some can still be found on these piles along with equipment like massive shovel pans, cables, chains, hooks, steam tanks and many winches. A trail including stone steps goes entirely around the pit. Hike outside the box and discover so much more here!
