Bridge 9 in Middlefield, near Coles Brook in the Middlefield State Forest, no trail to get here…just good gps. An 1840 stone arch bridge was in service here as late as 1927, when it it was damaged by a flood in the spring of that year. That bridge was either demolished or encased within the present reinforced concrete arch in 1928. Several large blocks of stone from the original bridge are visible just upstream. It spans 30 feet and is 40 feet high.
