Hiking out to the vast wilderness of Middlefield on the Westfield River West Branch to view bridge #10, one most dont see. Near Coles Brook, the Western Railroad cuts its way through the valley where unique limestone cuts the steep hillsides. Unbelievable that anyone would choose this rough and remote route to build a railroad or anything else!
It’s all railroad this week in honor of the Amherst Railroad Hobby Show – West-Springfield, MA this Saturday and Sunday (hikers at the table) join us and the Chester Railway Museum at the Big E for the biggest train show in the country!
