Any hike on Mount Greylock should include walking the short summit loop which includes the War Memorial Tower and several info boards all over the summit which tell visitors all about the history, nature and history of this mountain, like the Black Warbler bird, this is the only place in the state where it nests and the unique balsam firs. We spent hours up there, met some great folks including two women on touring motorcycles doing a cross country scavenger hunt. Many people come here to give respect to our fallen heroes which is what the Memorial is all about.
We spent this weekend at Mount Greylock State Reservation , hiking Mount Prospect, Prospect Mountain, Mount Williams, Money Brook Falls, Wilburs Clearing, the Old Summit Road, Deer Hill Trail, Rounds Rock and camped out at the Deer Hill Shelter. Learning about and exploring this highest elevation mountain in the state is truly an amazing experience. Don’t forget to stop in to the Visitors Center!
