Becket Potholes, a unique glacier melt outdoor museum. Back to take a closer look and to look for more farther down the gorge bringing along Rockachusetts and Berkshire Destinations author Christy Butler. Located between Mount Gobble and Gobble Mountain in a gorge where massive waters rushed through this canyon as the ice melted, on its way to the West Branch of the Westfield River: rocks caught up in this melt in pockets under the glacial sheet, these pockets carved bowls in the rock. The potholes here are both verticle and horizontal, most are unique because they are verticle. The largest being over one hundred feet in diameter. One of the most fascinating places we have been.
