The Aspinwall Hotel opened in 1902 It was designed by Pittsfield architects Allen and Vance and constructed in less than a year by Lenox builder James Clifford. Located on the Aspinwall Woolsey Estate, the 400-room facility was world-renowned and was host to many notables from the United States and Europe. The hotel offered the latest and finest amenities of the time and commanded breathtaking views reaching into New York and Connecticut. The Aspinwall Hotel burned to the ground in 1931.
