The Huckleberry Trolley Line from the Lee Outlets to Forest Street in Lee. The Berkshire Street Railway (Cummings) The “convenient point” on the Berkshire system was East Lee and from here the line was to extend through the southwest corner of Becket and the northwestern part of Otis to Blandford and then across Blandford and into Huntington, a distance of almost 24 miles. The contract for the building of the East Lee- Huntington line was awarded to the Western Massachusetts Contracting Company. Grading in Becket and East Lee commenced in the spring of 1911. Beginning at a wye connection with the Berk shire Division at East Lee Corner, the Huckle berry Line, running entirely over private right- of-way, crossed Water Street and Green Water Brook, curved northwesterly to cross Forest and Silver Streets and the state highway, and then continued to the north of the highway to another crossing and on to the Becket boundary. This section was outstanding with the bridges, culverts and eye hooks (at least 15!) still intact. For a short distance rail ties were still intact!
