BIG NEWS! The National Park Service may acquire Southwick parcel along New England Trail story by Peter Currier | The Westfield News | pcurrier@thereminder.com SOUTHWICK – A national non-profit organization is seeking to facilitate the purchase a property along part of the New England National Scenic Trail in Southwick for the purpose of designating it as National Park Service land. The Conservation Commission and Honor Lawler, the project manager from the Trust for Public Land spoke to the Select Board Monday evening to gauge how the town would feel about the potential land acquisition. Lawler told the board that it is ultimately a transaction between Indus Land Trust, who currently owns the property at 56 N. Longyard Road, and the National Park Service. Greg, Elbert and the guys went to see this proposed scenic section.
