The Berkshire Cultural Center, 100 acres. Charles Farmer, head of an industrial designing firm MiddlesexEngineers, Inc., shot and killed his wife then shot himself in the chest. The couple lived in a 25 room mansion in Highland Park, NJ. They built the cultural center as a retreat for artists, rumor was Mrs. Farmer was having an affair with a contractor on site. After the tragedy, and lack of payment, the compound was “removed” piece by piece. Mrs. Farmer spent most of her weekends here and was to move in permanently.
