Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary in Lenox, a Mass Audubon property with seven miles of well-marked walking trails include three popular loops. There is a $5 fee here if you are not a member, it’s well worth it, leave the dog at home on this one. We set out to see all the trails here starting with the Ledges (up)/Overbrook Loop (down)(Approx. 3 miles) An 800 vertical foot, strenuous hike (2 hours and 3 miles round-trip) to the top of Lenox Mountain (2126 ft. elev.) Enjoy the vista of Mount Greylock to the north, the Taconic range to the west, Richmond Pond below and the Catskill Mountains of New York to the southwest. The original Richmond fire tower stood here. This trail also intersects with the new BNRC High Road Trail. We have been hiking it for years and excited to see it officially blazed!! Back in the day, it was just a local unblazed trail using fire roads as we would come here from Richmond for the views!
