Babcock Brook flows from Middlefield to Chester into the West Branch of the Westfield River at the Keystone Arch Bridges Trail. Along the hike the Serpentine rocks can be seen in the brook and the river near the double arch, when wet they glow turquiose blue. Hiking up the brook to find the Serpentine quarry, we bouldered in some places of the rugged canyon which was formed as the water from this brook rages in spring. Here is a rare off the beaten path look at the brook in it’s entirety. We encountered bees, potholes formed by water in the soft talc rock and remote waterfalls staying in the brook all the way to the quarry with views of Gobble Mountain thru the canyon.
